The considerable potential of wind energy in Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan is a driving force for PLN to carry out the procurement of the 70 MW Wind Power Plant (PLTB) Project. This project will be the first Wind Power Plant in Indonesia equipped with 10 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System technology. Procurement of this project has been carried out with a mandatory partner scheme in which the procurement winner will partner with PJBI as an investment subsidiary of PLN Nusantara Power. PLN has determined the Total Eren and Adaro Power Consortium as the winner of the tender with the signing of the Letter of Intent (LoI) on 15 November 2022. As a follow-up, on Thursday, 04 May 2023, the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PJBTL) for the 70 MW PLTB Tanah Laut with 10 MWh BESS between PLN and Total Eren - Adaro Power - PJBI was held at the Auditorium Room, PT PLN (Persero) Head Office.

The construction of the PLTB Tanah Laut is targeted to begin in early 2024 and is expected to reach Commercial Operation Date (COD) in 2025. In the first year of operation, the project is expected to generate 158 GWh of electrical energy, increasing to 196 GWh in the second year and beyond. It is expected that this energy utilization will contribute to reducing the amount of CO2e emissions by 220,000 tons per year.

The implementation of the signing of the 70 MW of PLTB Tanah Laut PJBTL with 10 MWh BESS is a manifestation of PJBI's commitment as part of the PLN Group in supporting Indonesia's commitment to achieve the expected energy mix target through accelerating the clean energy transition.
